Breaking the Texas DWI Law
The Texas Department of Public Safety wants to make it clear to minors that it's not wise to mess with Texas DWI law. Driving while intoxicated is a serious offence and is life-threatening to you, your loved ones and innocent drivers or passengers who are unfortunate to be in your way. Here's what can happen if you break the Texas DWI law:
- In less serious cases, the police officer, whose job it is to enforce Texas DWI law, will issue the minor with a citation of DUI, serve him a notice of suspension and confiscate his license.
- Texas DWI law states that in the above case, the minor is not arrested and he is not requested to undergo a chemical test.
Texas DWI Law Gets Tougher For Serious Offences
If a minor is seriously impaired if he is drinking while intoxicated, Texas DWI law calls for a tougher stand. Here's what will happen:
- The police officer will proceed with a custodial arrest procedure.
- The police officer may administer sobriery tests and the minor will be ARRESTED and taken into custody.
- The minor will be requested to take a chemical test to check the alcohol concentration level in his body.
- Under Texas DWI law, penalties vary, depending on whether the minor agreed to undergo a chemical test or not.
One thing's for sure. It's not wise to DWI and it's not wise to get caught doing so. Texas DWI law is tough and has no mercy for minors who endanger their own lives and those of innocent people.
